Overview
What is Ledger® Live?
Ledger® Live is the official desktop and mobile companion app for Ledger® hardware wallets. It allows you to manage accounts, send/receive crypto, install apps on your device, and apply firmware updates while keeping your private keys isolated on your Ledger® device.
Before you begin
- Ensure you have a genuine Ledger® hardware device (Ledger Nano S Plus, Nano X, or similar).
- Download Ledger® Live from the official site and verify checksums when available.
- Have a secure surface to write down your recovery phrase — never share it online.
Install Ledger® Live
Step 1 — Download
Visit the official Ledger® download page and choose the appropriate installer for your operating system.
Step 2 — Install and open
Run the installer, open Ledger® Live, and follow the on‑screen onboarding. Choose Create a new wallet if your device is brand new, or Restore if recovering from an existing recovery phrase.
Set up your Ledger® device
Initialize your device
Follow the device prompts to set a PIN. The device will display a 24‑word recovery phrase — write it down in order and keep it offline. Ledger® and Ledger® Live will never ask for your recovery phrase online.
Security tip
Store your recovery phrase in a secure, fire‑resistant place. Consider a metal backup plate for long‑term storage.
Add accounts in Ledger® Live
Once your device is unlocked and connected, open Ledger® Live and add accounts for supported blockchains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, etc.). Each account corresponds to an address derived from your device's seed.
Managing multiple accounts
You can add multiple accounts per asset and arrange them in Ledger® Live for easy access. Use tags and custom names to keep things organized.
Send & Receive
To receive funds, copy the account address from Ledger® Live and confirm it on your Ledger® device. For sending, create a transaction in Ledger® Live — all transactions must be validated physically on your device.
Confirm on device
Always verify the address and amounts shown on your Ledger® device before approving. This prevents man‑in‑the‑middle attacks.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Firmware & app updates
Keep firmware and Ledger® Live up to date. Ledger® Live will notify you of updates; follow official update flows only.
Support
If you encounter problems, consult official Ledger® support channels before using third‑party fixes.
